The GIVI D189S, which is 17.5" tall, provides a noticable difference in wind protection. There is a very large reduction in wind hitting the arms. The wind coming off the top of the windscreen now hits at approximately eye level. This original testing was done around 50 degrees F which required wearing a riding jacket. The feeling of sitting behind a taller tinted windscreen makes the bike feel more touring oriented. The quality of the GIVI is extremely high including the optics. Additional rides in April 2002, confirm that wind protection is significant. Higher speeds of 75 and 85 mph provide a very comfortable riding environment.
Looking at both windscreens side by side, there is an obvious size difference.
Here is the side view of the screens layed side by side.
Here are 3 views of the windscreen mounted on the bike.
As the weather warms, additional test rides will be performed. Visit my homepage for other interesting motorcycle and travel information.
