Wednesday, our third day in Madrid, we rode the glass elevator up the side of the Reina Sofia museum. This photo taken from the elevator shows the plaza outside the museum. The structure in the center is decidedly NOT a work of art. I think it's just an airshaft or something. Beyond that structure you can see a green awning. This is the Cafe Brilliante, where we had dinner the previous evening.
Inside the Reina is an incredible collection of Picasso's works, including his most widely known monumental mural, Guernica. It is probably the world's most famous anti-war work of art. Picasso was deeply affected by Franco's brutal treatment of his country's people, and this was his way of expressing his feelings about it.
