On our second day in Madrid we took the metro to Atocha station, and enjoyed a stroll in beautiful weather to the Prado Museum, widely recognized as one of the world's finest art museums. It houses a collection of some of the most recognizable classical and contemporary visual art, including many of Spain's legacy artists. We bought a combination ticket for entry to Madrid's three main art museums (Prado, Reina Sofia and Thyssen) which is a pretty good deal even if you visit only two of these museums. We spent about three hours walking around, running into several works we didn't realize were here including Hieronymus Bosch's Garden of Earthly Delights
