hammuseum

Walking in the Gran Via in Madrid, we found ourselves at the Museo de Jamon - the "Museum of Ham" which we'd read about before the trip. Inside, we found ourselves looking at literally hundreds of hams hanging from the ceilings and walls, which we later found was typical for restaurants and meat shops. This "museo" is really a famous chain of restaurants in Spain. Marti appears to be wondering about all the poor little piggies. I don't recall seeing one live pig anywhere during our trip.

McDs

This is a view of the McDonalds on Gran Via, near our hotel. It's inside an older building that's pretty ornate and fancy (perhaps a former bank or government office). Of course, Mickey Ds, Burger King KFC and several other familiar chains are strategically placed in cities all over Spain. All of them seem to have beer on sale, and most of them permit smoking inside, although this is beginning to change. This is where all those cheap little aluminum foil ashtrays went.
